No one in America thats for sure. We are to busy giving the gov't our money so that they can blow it on social programs. And besides no one thinks that spending money on roads or railways is "cool".

It will take a change in the attitudes of all Americans regarding money and taxes before anything useful will ever be accomplished with the railways like was done with the interstate highway system.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8832026755264748338.post-27279885167825582582008-08-17T15:52:00.000-05:002008-08-17T15:52:00.000-05:00This nation needs to do the same thing with inters...This nation needs to do the same thing with interstate railways as it did with interstate highways.

Taking a plane flight from St. Louis to Kansas City or even driving between the two cities is not economically advantageous to our state compared to constructing a direct railway between the two cities; a more direct path than the highway.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8832026755264748338.post-87021719069651461662008-08-12T11:02:00.000-05:002008-08-12T11:02:00.000-05:00Price of gas has nothing to do with "the highway d...Price of gas has nothing to do with "the highway department." The amount of pennies they get from the price of gasoline is fixed regardless of wether gas is $4 or $1.50. $0.21 if I remember correctly goes to MoDOT for each galone of gasoline. So, go against the "green" and buy more gas to support your local government!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8832026755264748338.post-40353427526810620372008-07-02T08:35:00.000-05:002008-07-02T08:35:00.000-05:00Don't do passenger rail any favors or anything lik...Don't do passenger rail any favors or anything like that. Cutting one highway overpass could have added $20 million. That would have meant a whole lot more. How much will gas have to get to before you, the highway department, begin to act like a well-rounded transportation agency. You have the name, but not the ability it seems. A high-speed rail announcement would be news.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
