With temperatures reaching nearly 90 degrees, more than 1,200 fifth graders attended Earth Day 2009 in Jefferson City on April 24. Visitors to MoDOT’s tent received a white pine tree seedling, learned about the No MOre Trash program, signed a No MOre Trash litter pledge and played a ring toss game requiring each player to answer a litter-prevention question.

How do you keep the planted pine seedling alive? I've been told the best way is to run a hose to it and set the hose to just barely drip. You can still use the hose from time to time, but when done, put it back to drip at the tree. Do this all summer and fall. After that it should be established well enough to grow normally.
